Dell shares fall 10%on poor results

Shares of Dell fell nearly 10per cent in after-hours trading on Thursday as weak US consumer sales led profits at the personal computer maker to fall short of Wall Street expectations.
Dell also warned that its near-term results could be "adversely impacted"by slowing declines in component prices and costs arising from its restructuring.
The news marks a fresh blow to Dell,which has been struggling to bounce back from two years of turmoil that has seen it cede its position at the top of the PC market to rivalHewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ).
